Taylor McClain

Taylor McClain is a Managing Director in geoscience at Redfield Energy Partners, bringing over 10 years of experience in petroleum geology focused on upstream oil and gas and A&D advisory. 

He began his career with Chevron in the Appalachian Business Unit before joining Range Resources as a Geologist in 2013. There, he served as the technical lead for exploration and development in the Utica/Point Pleasant Play. At Range, Taylor gained substantial experience in operations geology, supporting the development program in the Southwest Marcellus Play. He led initiatives to improve recoverable reserves in both the Marcellus and Utica plays through the integration of petrophysical modeling and completions engineering. Notably, he built a geological model that facilitated the completion of the first successful Utica/Point Pleasant well drilled in Southwest PA. 

In 2018, Taylor transitioned to UBS Investment Bank's A&D Advisory Group as Director, where he was the transaction lead for numerous buy-side and sell-side transactions across the Appalachian, Delaware, Midland, Eagle Ford, and Haynesville Basins. He also possesses experience in the minerals space, advising on multiple buy-side deals and demonstrating a deep understanding of key value drivers and innovative modeling techniques. Taylor's analytical skills are crucial for unlocking the rock's potential through the assessment of completions and production trends.

He holds an MS in Geology from West Virginia University and a BS from Pennsylvania State University, and he is registered with Series 79 and 63 licenses.
